Classic boutique hotel. I absolutely loved that it looks old and cozy. We arrived around 1 am and we were greeted by such a wonderful man. I apologize that I forgot his name but he deserved all the applause for making us feel welcomed. The room we got initially had a smell -- almost this old wood smell - but it disappeared after a few minutes. There was a fireplace and we asked the receptionist to turn it off for us and he was so kind to do it. WE felt bad as I can tell he had a bad knee. We had a balcony that my husband loved. Bed : extremely comfortable, pillows a bit too soft for me, but still restful sleep. Bedside lights are a bit loose but does not to the old charm appeal. Room is large enough for two people. Bathroom is smaller side but still clean, and strong shower pressure. Loved that it has refillable toiletries. Location: Quite central and near convention center. On our last day we asked if we can extend our stay or add another day and they tried to honor this but the they were fully booked. Their graciousness was well appreciated. Will definitely stay again if given another chance. Staff again were absolutely wonderful.

This is the cleanest, best maintained hotel we’ve ever stayed in. There wasn’t a spect of dust, dirt, lint or chipped walls anywhere! The gentleman they have working there seemed to be busy throughout the facility, sweeping, mopping, cleaning and delivering (he brought a shower mat to our room since the shower floor was slippery). The bed was perfect—not too firm or too soft. And we liked that there was only a fleece blanket between 2 sheets instead of a comforter, which is too much. It was a a nice presentation having the covers all tucked in, military style.

Our room was particularly to our liking - decor wise. Robert was especially helpful as our valet when we checked in / first days. Other valets were fine of course. On entering lobby on our first day we were welcomed so nicely by the man at the "help/info" desk .... before we even got to checking in. I wish I had gotten his name & we didn't get to thank him later since we didn't see him again. He was truly a great asset to the welcoming ambiance of your hotel.

The location was excellent, very close to the Gaslamp quarter, and a short walk to the San Diego Bay, and attractions. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby, with a good onsite bar and restaurant. It's an older and historic hotel and has a nice feel to it, with a relaxed vibe. Also worth noting it's an easy walk to the convention center, and tram system at the bottom of 5th avenue.

Fantastic olde world feel in great period heritage style hotel. Just felt like going back in time with modern conveniences. Close to everything in the gas lamp district. Lots of great restaurants, Petco Field , waterfront and trolley system close. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great value Steak Frites in the Salt and Whiskey bar !
